What is Live-In Care?

A live-in care is a personal carer who lives in their client's home to enable their needs to be met. It is an increasingly popular alternative to moving into a residential home. it offers a way of continuing to live as independently as possible at home while receiving incomparable level of one-to-one support. Some carers live-in all the time while others work on a rota pattern of 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off. A carer is available throughout the day and at night to help your relative.

The primary role of a live-in carer is to enable the person requiring the care to continue to enjoy a secure, comfortable and independent life within the familiar surroundings of their own home. The assessment process, step by step:

  1. Initial contact: During the phone conversation, our consultant will ask you some basic information and will arrange a face to face visit.
  2. Face to face visit: We want to make sure that we fully understand your needs. You and your relative will be asked questions about the services you want and need.
  3. A personalised care plan: following on our meeting, a personalised care plan will be drawn up with you, in order to clearly set out the duties our carer will need to undertake.
  4. Placement of a live-in carer: once a carer is placed with you, our team will contact you regularly to make sure that everything is going well.
  5. Review meetings: regular meetings will be organised to ensure that your needs and expectations are still being met, or in case of changed circumstances, the care plan can be updated.
